Our second meeting of the Fall 2019 semester was held on 28 October. Check out the pictures in the slideshow below! This month's theme was public health awareness during Halloween and upcoming holidays this season. We presented on different areas to stay healthy and keep the public healthy these coming months. We emphasized these specific areas relevant to student and campus health:
🦷 Keeping up your oral health with a hygiene routine & balanced diet
✖️ Avoiding, quitting, or not starting to juul/ e-cigarette
🤸♀ Finding ways to stay physically active
🚗 Pedestrian safety using Uber/Lyft or sober drivers
📞 Minutes Matter alcohol/drug policy
The majority of the meeting was spent on our oral health activity. We created public health based messages to spread on campus for students. These turned out so great, thank you to everyone who took the time to write original and inspiring notes. We are looking forward to tableing these at the dining halls & Blue Wall during then next few weeks leading up to Thanksgiving. Please sign up to table at: http://bit.ly/phcsmiles. This is a great opportunity to spread a dental public health message on campus, network with your peers, and contribute to the Club!
Also at the meeting we announced the Dine and Discuss 3 course meal series hosted by the SPHHS Career Services, introduced our Fall 2019 Core Members, and hosted the Public Health peer advisors. They presented and answered your specific questions about the public health major and general experiences at UMass. If you have any questions visit them during their drop in hours listed on the SPHHS Academic Advising site.
